Gone, Johnson

My husband, Tad, is a wizard. He makes things disappear. He makes little things disappear, like peanut M&M's and caramel popcorn, and beef stew. He makes middle-sized things disappear, like bags of garbage and overdue library books. What is really amazing, is that he can make big things disappear, too. Things like HUGE lava rocks in our yard (previous owners apparently found them to be "decorative". Huh. Go figure.) Things like TREES! Big trees. Wrong, ugly, messy, nasty, too-close-to-the-house trees. He uses things like hammer drills and chain saws and splitting wedges and makes these things GO AWAY. I love it. I love him. He works hard to make our yard pretty and better.

This was the smaller of the two large lava rocks which had been placed in our yard by previous owners. The chunk hehind his right foot was about 1/4 of the whole rock. The rock in the front yard was about twice this big, if not bigger.

These are the remains of the very LARGE birch tree which was directly behind the house. It was too close and getting dangerously old. This is the tree which Tad was cutting down last weekend while I painted kitchen chairs. I had the more fun job.

And now, sun shines into the dining room. It's never done that before.

Thanks, honey.
